The Northern Region NPC is fully supporting the Unite Winter Fuel Payment Campaign, and we are proud to announce that Regional Secretary Alec McFadden will be attending the demonstration. As the winter months approach, the issue of the Winter Fuel Payment is more critical than ever. With many pensioners across the UK facing the possibility of losing this vital support, Unite the Union is leading a campaign to demand the reinstatement and protection of the Winter Fuel Payment.
This issue affects thousands of pensioners, especially in the North West and North East, where cold winters often mean difficult decisions between heating homes and affording other essentials. Now is the time for us to stand together and demand change.
Demonstration at the Labour Party Conference – 23rd September
We are calling on all members, affiliates, and supporters to join Unite the Union’s demonstration during the Labour Party Conference on Monday, 23rd September. The demonstration will take place at 12 noon at the Wheel of Liverpool on Liverpool Docks.
This demonstration is an essential part of our ongoing campaign to ensure that the Winter Fuel Payment remains a lifeline for pensioners across the UK. The Labour Party conference provides a crucial opportunity to make our voices heard, as we call on the party to support pensioners during the colder months and reverse the government’s damaging cuts.
Directions to the Demonstration
To make it easier for everyone to join us at the demonstration, here are directions to the Wheel of Liverpool:
- The Wheel of Liverpool is located on the Liverpool Docks, near the M&S Bank Arena.
- For those travelling by public transport, the nearest train station is Liverpool Central, and buses run regularly from the city centre to the docks.
- There is also paid parking available nearby for those driving to the demonstration.
